Lot 49 Baby Rose Marie Diamond Ring & Photograph | Lot 50 Baby Rose Marie Name Stamps and Sinatra Photo |
A diamond ring that Mom wore when she was known as child star "Baby Rose Marie" and starring in her own national broadcast radio show and touring the country. |
These stamps were created for Mom when she was known as "Baby Rose Marie" some 90 years ago and were used on her stationary and publicity photos. |
Lot 51 Las Vegas Casino Souveniers | Lot 52 Louis Vuitton Ashtray & Lighters |
Mom literally "opened" Las Vegas back in 1946 when she was on the bill for the Grand Opening of the Flamingo. In subsequent years she performed there and visited often. This lot includes playing cards, ashtrays, dice, and hotel courtesy cards from her trips as well as a letter from the Flamingo offering her complimentary accomodations because of her role in opening the casino. |
Mom was a smoker (which she regretted in later years). Here's a vintage ashtray and two Dunhill lighters and a Cartier lighter. The engraving "Not 'Everybody's' Just Yours" is a reference to a play she did called "Everybody's Girl" and the engraving "For My Matchless Husband" was for Dad. There are also two vintage matchbooks from Ciro's in Hollywood. |
Lot 53 Rose Marie Monogrammed Bathrobe | Lot 54 Planner & Tiffany Pen |
Chocolate velour bath robe with Mom's monogram. People loved giving Mom things that were engraved or monogrammed. She'd wear this when she was in her dressing room. |
This planner/calendar was created specifically for Mom and features a caricature of her as Sally Rogers drawn by Dick Van Dyke and her signature. Also included is her Tiffany & Co. credit card and three pens, one which is a sterling Tiffany pen. |
Lot 55 Bar Items | Lot 56 Cooking Collection: Apron & Recipes |
My parents were prolific entertainers. Our last name was GUY, so they had "Guy's Saloon" painted on the bar windows and had all kinds of personalized barware. The drink coasters say, "Have One On The Guys," there are napkins that say, "Rose Marie," beer mugs that say, "Guy's Saloon," and aluminum coasters engraved with "The Guys." Would be great for a "guy's bar" or a guy's man cave! |
Mom wouldn't brag about her acting, singing or comedy, but she had no qualms about bragging about her cooking and was known among her friends as an excellent cook. Here's an apron she wore often that says, "Italian Heartburn by Rose Marie" and a big batch of her favorite handwritten recipes. You'll also get a photo of her wearing the apron from a dinner where Jonathan Winters was a guest. |
Lot 57 Beaded Evening Bags |
Lot 58 BULLSHIT Clutch and Change Purses |
Mom had gorgeous beaded evening bags from all over the world that she carried to all kinds of personal appearances and Hollywood functions. Here are five that she carried often and are in excellent condition. |
After all she was a comedienne, so probably shouldn't be surprising that she'd have bags with "bullshit" printed all over them. |
Lot 59 Broadtail Coat | Lot 60 Autographed Scripts |
This is a gorgeous black broadtail double breasted swing coat that Mom had monogrammed inside that says "Noopy's Mother." I am pretty positive that she wore this on the Season 3 Christmas episode of The Doris Day Show (Episode 15) and she may have also worn it on The Mike Douglas Show. She loved this coat and consequently wore it many times. |
Mom did a musical short with Hugh O'Brian, Abbe Lane and Scatman Crothers in 1953 called Surprising Suzie. She also did a play called Lunatics and Lovers with Zero Mostel. She autographed the covers for both of those scripts. |
Lot 61 Just Off Broadway Autographed Script | Lot 62 Dinah Shore and Vaudeville Scripts |
Back in 1955, long before she was filming The Dick Van Dyke Show on the Desilu Lot, Mom made a pilot for Desilu called Just Off Broadway (that didn't get picked up). It was originally called Girls and Greasepaint. This is an early version of the script which she autographed and contains her annotations. You'll notice on the front it says, "Ex Child Star" which is often how she reffered to herself.. |
Mom had most of her scripts bound or at least had personalized binders for them. Here's two scripts in binders, one of which she autographed. One is from The Dinah Shore Show where she and I actually performed (sang and danced) together. We only did it once. The other is from a TV special called Vaudeville. |
Lot 63 Mink Coat | Lot 64 Mink Jacket and Vest |
Mom referred to herself as a furaholic before we all realized how bad that really was. This was a mink she bought when she was doing Call Me Madam (which she absolutely loved doing). She wore it a lot, including on the set of You Don't Say, a gameshow she did in 1963 with Tom Kennedy and Mike Connors at Cyprus Gardens in Florida. |
Two of Mom's furs. This little white mink jacket, was actually part of her wardrobe for Call Me Madam that she wore on stage. That's her in her dressing room, modeling it. The other mink is a unique tunic, that has a brown collar and belt and zips up the side. She's pictured wearing it with Sammy Davis, Jr. and Sidney Poitier. |
Lot 65 Wool Cardigan | Lot 66 1960 Passport |
This is a cardigan so typical of the kind Mom wore in the 60s on tv and in her personal life. It's wool and was made in Austria. |
Mom's 1960 passport. |
Lot 67 Dick Van Dyke Show First Episode Script |
Lot 68 Dick Van Dyke Show Worn Large Bow |
Two early versions of the first script of The Dick Van Dyke Show called "The Sick Boy and the Sitter" |
Twice on The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mom wore an oversized bow on top of her head instead of her usual smaller black bow at her left temple. They made her two copies of this large, black organza bow with velvet center, most likely because she does some serious physical comedy while wearing it in one of the episodes. You can see it in Season 4 Episode 15 "The Impractical Joke" and Season 4 Episode 17 "Stacey Petrie Part I." She also wore it for a photo shoot which is pictured below. She only had two of these. One is gone. This is the last one. |
Lot 69 Daisy Brooches, One Worn on The Dick Van Dyke Show
Mom's favorite flower was the daisy. Here are two of her daisy pins. The larger one was worn on Season 5, Episode 7 of The Dick Van Dyke Show called "The Great Petrie Fortune." The other smaller pin she bought for herself when she was visiting Denmark. |
|

Lot 71 Comedy & Tragedy Mask Brooches worn on The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Doris Day Show, Sam Levinson Show, The Big Beat
Mom had a real love for the theatre comedy and tragedy masks. My dad gifted her with a beautiful large pendant necklace that she often wore which featured the masks. When she needed something a little more subtle she'd wear this set. She wore these for probably 50 years, including many television appearances. THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW: Season 1 Episode 20 The Boarder Incident; Season 2 Episode 26 The Square Triangle; Season 2 Episode 27 Racy Tracy Rattigan; Season 2 Episode 29 It's A Shame She Married Me; Season 4 Episode 13 The Death of the Party; Season 5 Episode 3 The Ugliest Dog In The World; Season 5 Episode 20 Remember The Alimony |
|
Lot 72 Black Bow with Heart Pendant
Mom was known for her trademark Black Bow. This was one she wore in later years and it can even been seen in an outtake of her documentary WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH where she is seen talking on the phone to Doris Day. |
|
Lot 73 Plaid Wool Purse used on The Dick Van Dyke Show | Lot 74 Dick Van Dyke Autographed Photo and Purse |
This "Scotch House" purse was used by Mom on three different episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show. Season 1 Episode 7 The Unwelcome Houseguest; Season 1 Episode 9 My Blonde-Haired Brunette; Season 1 Episode 13 Empress Carlotta's Necklace |
If you saw WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH you know that Mom would call Dick, the "Six Foot Tower of Jello." Well, he autographed this photo to her, signing it, "The Tower of Jello." The autographed photo comes with the purse that she's carrying in it. She carried this floral embroidered Italian purse often. In this picture with Dick Van Dyke, she is wearing the Stone Marten coat which is Lot 75. |
Lot 75 Dicker & Dicker Stone Marten Coat | Lot 76 Rare Dick Van Dyke Show Photograph |
This was a favorite of Mom's and has been kept in storage since she stopped wearing her furs. It's full length and is monogrammed "Rose Marie" inside. |
This is a matted 14 x 11 photo of Morey, Dick and Mom - the writers for The Alan Brady Show that was in her home office for decades. |
Lot 77 Caricature and Carl Reiner Autographed Book
In addition to this limited edition caricature, gifted to Mom by the artist, this lot includes three autographed Dick Van Dyke Show related books - most notably Carl Reiner's "Why and When the Dick Van Dyke Show was Born" which he personally inscribed to "Rosie". There's also a photo of the cast and crew from the reunion show that hung in Mom's bar on her "wall of fame" for years.

|
Lot 78 Screen worn Friday's Child Brooch
This Marvin Hime "Friday's Child" brooch is made of 14K yellow gold, sapphires and Mississippi River pearls. Mom wore it a lot, including on both The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Doris Day Show, as well as personal appearances. She loved this brooch. THE DORIS DAY SHOW: Season 2 Episode 8; Season 2 Episode 18; Season 2 Episode 26; Season 3 Episode 20; Season 3 Episode 21 THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW: Season 4 Episode 20 Boy #1, Boy#2; Season 5 Episode 22 Buddy Sorrell - Man and Boy |
|
Lot 79 Dick Van Dyke Show Script | Lot 80 Custom Dick Van Dyke Show Memorabilia |
Script of "Where Did I Come From" for The Dick Van Dyke Show. This episode is soon to be colorized and shown on CBS. |
Mom saved the gifts that the cast and crew were given at the conclusion of each season of The Dick Van Dyke Show. This lot includes two decks of playing cards that features a caricature drawing of the cast by Dick Van Dyke, as well as a book of matches advertising CBS and Dick, Morey and Mom. |
Lot 81 Black Hair Bow | Lot 82 TV Guide Nomination for Dick Van Dyke Show |
This is one of Mom's well worn iconic black velvet hair bows. If you saw WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH, you know the very personal meaning of this trademark. |
For a few years in the 60s, TV Guide gave out awards. This sterling silver bowl was what they presented to the nominees. The Dick Van Dyke Show was nominated for favorite series in 1964. |
Lot 83 Dick Van Dyke Show Script - Look Like A Walnut | Lot 84 Dick Van Dyke Show Final Episode Script |
This script is for one of the all-time favorite episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show, "It May Look Like A Walnut." |
This lot includes the script for the last episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, "The Gunslinger," as well as a vintage reproduction poster from that episode featuring Carl Reiner, that was hidden behind Mom's filing cabinet for years. Also included is an original photo of Mom with her buddies Richard Deacon and Morey. |
Lot 85 1966 Passport | Lot 86 Basket Purse from Doris Day Show |
Mom's 1966 passport. |
This was another one of Mom's favorites. Not only did she use it on Season 2 of The Doris Day Show ("Singles Only" episode), but she carried it a lot (I remember, because I often had to hold it for her). |
Lot 87 Diamond and Gold Brooch - Doris Day Show | Lot 88 Gown worn on The Mike Douglas Show |
This beautiful gold and diamond brooch was worn by Mom on two episodes of the third season of The Doris Day Show (episodes 2 and 5). |
Back in 1972, Mom co-hosted The Mike Douglas Show, and this was one of the dresses she wore during the week. She also wore it for parties. She's pictured here with her dear friend Joy, who was her dresser on The Doris Day Show. |
Lot 89 Screen and Stage Worn Butterfly Blouse | Lot 90 Wood Pant Suit |
For years this was Mom's go-to top for stage and screen. She wore it on The Love Boat with Sid Caesar, The Garry Shandling Show with Donny Osmond, and Dick Van Dyke's This Is Your Life to name a few. She also wore it often during the run of 4 Girls 4. |
This was a style, color, pattern, and fabric that Mom really liked. She had several outfits like this that she wore a lot in the 70s. |
Lot 91 The Love Boat Lot | Lot 92 Vintage Gown |
Mom did a number of Love Boat episodes and usually wore her own clothes. This lot includes a house coat that she wore on an episode with Sid Caesar, as well as a needlepoint she was working on, that was incorporated into a scene on another episode she did with Morey Amsterdam. She was a prolific knitter, needlepointer and often did it while waiting for "action" on set. |
This is one of Mom's custom made gowns. |
Lot 93 Opera Glasses | Lot 94 14K Gold Charm Necklace |
Mom loved different and unique styled opera glasses. |
Most of Mom's charms were gifts given to her by friends or people she worked with on different shows. Every charm told a story and she loved wearing her necklaces and bracelets. This collection includes one from a show she did with Karen Valentine called "Bus Stop," and another play she did called, "Up A Tree." She also did a lot of work in Texas so you see one in the shape of the state. |
Lot 95 Accessories | Lot 96 Pins and Accessories |
Found these hair clips in Mom's dressing room drawers. They're obviously from a time before she started wearing her trademark black bow. As with most of her things, these are monogrammed or engraved. This lot also includes a brooch she wore in later years, as well as a small case that was given to her as a gift relatively recently. The little photo album includes a photo of Mom, Dad, me, and my Uncle Frank who was Mom's brother. |
You almost never saw Mom without some kind of a pin. She didn't wear earrings much, but she loved her necklaces and pins. |
Lot 97 14K Gold Charm Bracelet | Lot 98 Badges |
Most of Mom's charms were gifts given to her by friends or people she worked with on different shows. Every charm told a story and she loved wearing them. This bracelet was one of her early ones and includes a teapot - she was a die-hard tea drinker; an NBC microphone - she started as a child star with her own radio show on NBC and Dad worked in their orchestra; a flamingo - because she opened The Flamingo in Vegas; a record - for her music; and some others that Dad obviously gave to her. All of her charms were always very personal, including this one. |
Mom was always being made an honorary something or other given the badges to go with it. Here's a few. |
Lot 99 14K Gold Large Charm Bracelet | Lot 100 Leather Belt |
This bracelet has some really special charms on it. Two of them relate to the Broadway musical she did with Phil Silvers called Top Banana - the banana bunch and the record which is engraved with the title of one of the songs from the show. The trumpet is because that was the instrument my dad played. The C/P key was from the Chez Paree in Chicago who made her a life member because she often performed there back when she was known as Miss Rose Marie. There's a few birthday related charms, her zodiac sign, and even one I gave her. |
Like I've said before, if she could have it personalized or monogrammed, it was. Since I ride and show western horses, Mom had to have a western belt, so I had it made for her. |
Lot 101 Clocks | Lot 102 Charm Necklace |
Mom had a thing about clocks and watches. Time was really important to her - being on time, and timing! The red travel clock has R.M.G. embossed on it and the others are all high-quality good name brand clock. The Tiffany Travel Clock was a gift from Rosemary Clooney. |
This batch of charms includes a musical note, a custom made Hollywood Squares charm, a key with the Rolls Royce logo - she loved her Rolls, a Hershey charm she picked up when 4 Girls 4 were working at Hershey Park, a San Francisco bus trolley, her zodiac sign and a comedy mask to name a few. |
Lot 103 Bracelet | Lot 104 Gypsy Rose Lee Hall Tree |
A bracelet that mimics a belt with Mom's name. |
Mom got this antique hall tree, that originally belonged to Gypsy Rose Lee, from her good friend Jane Withers, who I believe purchased it at auction. It was in Mom's living room, and served as part of the background for the last interview Mom ever did on camera. It comes with authentication that it belonged to Gypsy Rose Lee. |
Lot 105 Doris Day Autographed Photo | Lot 106 John Wayne Gifted Mug |
For Mom's 90th birthday Doris Day sent her beautiful flowers, but also this framed photo of the two of them on the set of her show which she inscribed to Mom. Mom loved it because up till that time, she had nothing on her "wall of fame" from Dor. |
I know there were a few stories that Mom would tell about John Wayne, but mostly from encounters with him when they were both in Vegas. |
Lot 107 Autographed Books | Lot 108 Ethel Merman Letters, Photos and Playbills |
These are books from some of Mom's celebrity friends including Steve Allen, Rosemary Clooney, Pearl Bailey, Sid Caesar, Erma Bombeck, Carol Channing, Jack Klugman, Peter Marshall and Vincent Price. |
Mom adored Ethel Merman and they truly were great friends. This lot consists of photos, correspondence and some of the playbills from shows when Mom went to see her perform, as well as photos from Ethel's disco album photo shoot. |
Lot 109 Celebrity Bar Items | Lot 110 Mickey Mouse Award |
This collection is distinctive with "one of a kind" items from Mom's bar. There's the very rare mug that features the caricature that Dick Van Dyke drew of her; the glasses that say "Rose Marie - Sex Symbol for Senior Citizens," a couple of Mike Douglas glasses, a Jerry Lewis mug (he was very good friends with my parents), and Morry's misspelled mug (my parents had what they called a three-timers club - if you'd been to the house three times, you got your own personalized mug that hung on the shelves in the bar). Also included in here is coaster that says "The Crosbys" and a matchbook that says "Dixie & Bing." My dad played first trumpet for Bing on his radio show. |
In 1989 we all flew to Disney for a special week where Mom and Morey and a handful of other celebrities were honored at the new MGM Studios Theme Park (George Burns, Annette Funicello, Edie Adams, Alan Young, Imogene Coca, Steve Allen, Jayne Meadows). Mike Eisner presented these rare porcelain statues of Mickey to the stars. In Mom's files from that trip, I found this handwritten thank you letter she drafted for her secretary to type and send to Mr. Eisner thanking him. |
Lot 111 Awards | Lot 112 Desk Top Awards |
These were the last two awards Mom received. In December of 2016 she was given the Shirley Temple Award by The Actors Fund, the presentation of which, was included in her documentary, WAIT FOR YOUR LAUGH. The sculpted bronze Mill Valley Film Festival Award was presented to her just a few months before she passed away. |
These awards either sat on the bar or on top of her television for years. They include a 1965 Directors Guild of America award; a 1973 Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters Award; and a 1980 induction into the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame Award. |
Lot 113 Brooches | Lot 114 1971 Passport |
She loved her pins. Here she is wearing one from this batch at an event honoring John Rich where both she and Rob Reiner spoke. |
Mom's 1971 passport. |
Lot 115 1976 Passport | Lot 116 Tide Commercial Photographs |
Mom's 1976 passport. |
Mom was a spokesperson for Tide detergent and did a number of commercials for them. These pictures were taken during one of those shoots. The photo of her with the blackberries on her face has hung in her laundry room for decades. |
